For classic rubber hood-style masks that cover the entire head, you need one vertical measurement:
- Run the tape measure in a closed loop.
- It must pass over the top of the head (crown), cheeks, and chin.
- Round the result to the nearest 0.5 cm.
GP-5 Size Chart:
- Size 0: Up to 63 cm (under 24.8 in)
- Size 1: 63.5 – 65.5 cm (25.0 – 25.8 in)
- Size 2: 66.0 – 68.0 cm (26.0 – 26.8 in)
- Size 3: 68.5 – 70.5 cm (27.0 – 27.8 in)
- Size 4: 71.0 cm and above (over 28.0 in)
Method 2. For Strap Masks (e.g., GP-7)
For modern gas masks with a head harness and adjustable straps, measure the sum of two measurements:
- Vertical circumference: Over the crown, cheeks, and chin.
- Horizontal circumference: Around the forehead (above the eyebrows) and the back of the head.
- Add the two numbers together.
GP-7 Size Chart (based on the sum of both measurements):
- Size 1: Up to 118.5 cm (under 46.6 in)
- Size 2: 119.0 – 121.0 cm (46.8 – 47.6 in)
- Size 3: 121.5 cm and above (over 47.8 in)
How to Check the Fit
- The mask fits tightly.
- There are no gaps between the rubber and your skin.
- The eyepieces are directly in front of your eyes.
- No air escapes from the edges when you exhale.
